VISIONARY ARCHITECTURE WEEK: The Elephant Arc de Triomphe
In 1758, the French architect Charles-François Ribart proposed the construction of a three-story building in the shape of an elephant for the spot on the Champs-Élysées in Paris where the Arc de Triomphe now stands. Entry was via a spiral staircase in the underbelly. A drainage system was to be incorporated into the elephant’s trunk. To our dismay, Mr. Ribart’s plans were rejected by the French Government. We are eager for any information any of our readers might possess about other projects proposed or built by Mr. Ribart.

It’s impossible not to note a convergence between Mr. Ribart’s proposed structure and the Elephant building in Bangkok.
