Onan’s Gold Pyramid House

The Gold Pyramid? House in Wadsworth, Illinois is one of the most bizarre homes we have encountered. Its builders, Jim and Linda Onan, should be allowed to explain it themselves:

A few words say it all: Power, Gold, Mystery, Exotic and Impressive. When all those words were put together by Jim and Linda Onan, they ended up creating one of the greatest, most awesome pieces of art ever achieved. Why? It all started when American universities claimed that there were mysterious, supernatural and magical powers that were related to the pyramids. Intrigued by the mystery, the Onans built their home as a Pyramid. It’s known to be the largest 24 karat gold plated object ever? created. If you are not impressed by the size of the 6-story? Gold Pyramid and the King Tut tomb, you will definitely be? impressed by the striking and glittering amounts of gold? used to recreate this exquisite and thrilling exhibit.

The Gold Pyramid House 17,000 square foot interior has been ostentatiously furnished by Mrs. Onan reflecting the fancy lavishness common only to the wealthy Egyptian Pharaohs. In every corner you will see Egyptian furnishings, Egyptian artifacts and Egyptian paintings.

If you’ve ever read _Tik-Tok_ by John Sladek, this boondoggle will sound REAL familiar.

The name Onan implies a degree of wastefulness.

    House of Onan…

It shouldn’t come as a great surprise that a couple by the name of Onan has erected a rather self-indulgent edifice in the middle of nowhere. I wonder who provided the seed…

Wadsworth is in the middle of nowhere? I thought it was near Kenosha.

Quite a statement. I’d like to know which universities made such a claim. I can’t recall a single instance. I do remember some people (neo-alchemist Patrick Flanagan foremost among them)advocating “pyramid power”, but no credible researcher ever endorsed the idea, let alone any credible university.
