Salyut 6 Cyclogram

Hard though it is to read in the above image, this complex and beautiful visual diary, dubbed a “cyclogram,” was handmade by the Russian cosmonaut Georgi Grechko to track his 96-day stay aboard the Salyut 6 space station from December 1977 to March 1978. “Some 22 parallel time-series show 1500 sunrises and 1500 sunsets during the flight, a schedule for space walks and baths, and visits of resupply ships bringing equipment, fresh fruit, and gingerbread.” A poster of the cyclogram, annotated by Edward Tufte is available from his web site.
