The Work of Shawn Lani

Shawn Lani is a senior exhibit artist at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. He describes his work, which has been shown in over thirty science museums and art galleries, as “accessible objects of wonder.” Shown above is a piece called “Icy Bodies,” in which small pieces of dry ice skim across a liquid surface like miniature comets. Below is “Landfall,” a gorgeous, interactive piece in which a spherical landscape of sand is shaped and reshaped as it rotates.
