Hole Punch Clouds

Hole punch or fallstreak clouds, like this one sighted recently over Nashville, occur when high-altitude ice crystals fall through lower clouds. They can be seen from space:

    I used to hear about this sort of cloud formation years ago, but it was attributed to mental thought projection. Point out a cloud to a friend and say “out younder”..Concentrate hard while staring at the said cloud..
    and thus you have “cloud punching”! This is not to be confused with “cow tipping”.
